EVENT | FREE CPD Webinars by IG Masonry Support and Keyfix

IG Masonry Support and Keyfix are hosting a series of FREE CPD webinars in October and November, offering guidance to help construction professionals navigate the challenges of modern masonry, cavity construction and building envelope design.

Across three sessions, attendees will gain practical insights into key considerations for compliant and coordinated construction, from tackling cavity congestion and coordinating the slab edge to understanding how masonry support, fire barriers, cavity trays and wall ties interact.

Our National Specification Manager, Marcus Emmerson, will present the joint session, Better by Integration: Tackling Cavity Congestion for Gateway 2 Compliance. Exploring how an integrated approach can help tackle cavity congestion, simplify coordination and support Gateway 2 compliance.

Richard Lord, Technical Specification Manager, will present Achieving Intricate Brick Features, sharing practical guidance on specifying compliant solutions for complex brickwork details while maintaining performance and fire safety.

The series will conclude with Arif Ali, Technical Specification Manager, presenting Keyfix Cavity Tray Systems: Supporting Non-combustible Construction, covering practical considerations for specifying compliant, non-combustible cavity tray solutions.

The webinars provide an opportunity for architects, specifiers, contractors and other construction professionals to strengthen their understanding of key technical considerations and explore practical solutions for delivering safer, more compliant and effectively coordinated projects.

All sessions are free to attend, with registration required.

IG Masonry Support and Keyfix launch joint CPD to help tackle cavity congestion in high-rise buildings

IG Masonry Support and Keyfix – both part of the Keystone Group – have announced the launch of a new joint Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session designed to address one of the construction industry’s most pressing compliance challenges: cavity congestion in high-rise buildings (HRBs).

The Building Safety Act has placed renewed scrutiny on façade design and specification, with Gateway 2 submissions now demanding a higher level of coordination and documented compliance. The new CPD responds directly to this shift, equipping construction professionals with practical tools and knowledge to navigate these requirements with confidence.

National Specification Manager for IG Masonry Support and Keyfix, Marcus Emmerson, said: “By combining our expertise in masonry support, brick slip systems, non-combustible cavity trays, cavity tray lintels, and wall ties, our new CPD sessions demonstrate how an integrated product approach can reduce risk, improve buildability, and support robust documentation at the Gateway 2 stage. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the risks associated with today’s complex slab-edge and cavity environments, and how early specification decisions can significantly reduce coordination failures on site.”

The learning objectives for the 60-minute session include:

  1. Develop an understanding of modern slab-edge cavity challenges and their impact on façade design and performance.
  2. Recognise why cavity congestion matters and how it affects buildability, safety, and overall system effectiveness.
  3. Explore key compliance and coordination risks associated with today’s complex façade designs, and learn how to apply this awareness in practice using Keystone Group products.

The CPD is accredited and contributes one point towards annual Continuous Professional Development requirements. It is available now, with face-to-face and virtual sessions bookable directly through our CPD and Specification page.

EVENT | CPD Webinar Series 2024

We’re excited to announce the dates for our CPD Webinar Series for 2024. This series includes both our current CPDs: Specifying Sustainability and Achieving Intricate Brick Features.

The first CPD of the series, Specifying Sustainability, will be hosted on Thursday 14th March (12-12:30 pm) by our Specification Executive, Jemma Ison. Jemma will explore how offsite construction and conscious material selection can promote a circular economy. During the 30-minute webinar, she will delve deep into the global challenge and the need to decarbonise our sector, awareness of the sustainable benefits of offsite construction solutions, sustainable material selection to promote a circular economy, and how the Keystone Group is proactively delivering Net Zero applications.

The second CPD of the series, Achieving Intricate Brick Features, will be launching on Thursday 22nd March (12-1pm). The 60-minute webinar will explore topics such as bespoke brick slip solutions that comply with Document B: Fire Safety, traditional methods of forming brick soffits versus new technologies, why material selection is limited to stainless steel for masonry support systems, and levels of adjustability in the different masonry support systems to accommodate site tolerances.

These two CPD topics will be available monthly throughout 2024.
