NEWS | Keystone Group launches Slab Edge Simplified

22 October 2026

IG Masonry Support, Keyfix and IG Lintels unveiled their Integrated Façade Solution at a prestigious London event, taking the complexity out of Building Safety Act compliance at the slab edge.

On Tuesday 13 October 2026, Keystone Group welcomed a packed room of architects, engineers, contractors and specifiers to The Brewery in London for the launch of Slab Edge Simplified. Across an afternoon of presentations, product demonstrations and discussion, three Keystone Group brands – IG Masonry Support, Keyfix and IG Lintels – showed how their combined products and expertise deliver a fully integrated façade solution.

The message of the day was clear: the slab edge is one of the most critical junctions on any façade, and it performs best when it is designed, specified and supplied as one coordinated package rather than a collection of separate components.

The problem: competing demands at the slab edge
The slab edge packs structural support, fire safety and weather management into one narrow zone, where every component affects how the others perform.

Specified separately, these components are designed in sequence, quoted independently and often supplied by different manufacturers. Architects and contractors are then left to reconcile the interfaces, manage congestion in the cavity and confirm that everything fits together.

That fragmentation also creates risk at Building Safety Act gateways. When masonry support, cavity trays, cavity tray lintels, wall ties, fire barriers and soffit systems come from separate suppliers, submissions often arrive as several drawings, each covering only part of the interface. Incompatible details and unclear responsibilities can then lead to queries and delays.

The solution: one specification, every detail resolved
As members of Keystone Group, IG Masonry Support, IG Lintels and Keyfix design and control every slab-edge component as a single supplier. Design responsibility, drawings and assurance are coordinated across the whole junction, so project teams have one point of contact and one coherent submission.

Owen Coyle, Divisional CEO at Keystone Group, said: “The slab edge is where structure, fire safety and weather protection all meet, yet for too long it has been treated as a set of separate packages. Slab Edge Simplified changes that. By bringing IG Masonry Support, Keyfix and IG Lintels together under one specification, we take responsibility for the whole junction – the design, the drawings and the assurance – so architects and contractors can approach their Gateway submissions with confidence. The response we saw at our launch event shows just how much the industry wants that clarity.”

A special thanks to Richard Harral of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE, Nasar Ishfaq of R5 Consultants, Gurjeet Bahra of ACA Studios, Eoin Gormley of McAleer & Rushe, and Jamie Shaw of Lee Marley Brickwork for participating across the day.
