The stepped brick detail and depth in the piers creates the impression of a strong and robust architectural form. IG’s Brick Slip Lintels accommodated the recessed brick detail and achieved the desired bond pattern ensuring the architect’s original design was achieved without compromise.

The masonry loading applied to the lintels was relatively low, with the structural piers carrying the majority of the external load. IG’s welded masonry support featured throughout each pier to transfer the masonry load to the superstructure.

In order to accommodate the stepped recess above each opening, IG developed two lintels that when combined achieved the desired brick detail.

Bricks were traditionally laid between the two lintels, demonstrating the effective integration of both onsite and offsite building practices. IG Masonry Support’s solution utilised the Smeed Dean Islington Rustica brick from the same batch as the brickwork constructed onsite, ensuring the seamless integration of prefabricated components throughout the development.

The Brick Slip Lintels were consistently replicated throughout the development, supplied in lengths up to 3385mm in span.
