This private residence, located in the heart of Ontario in Toronto, represents IG Masonry Support’s first completed project in North America, delivered in 2010.
The project architect approached IG Masonry Support after being unable to find a suitable local solution to achieve a refined brick soffit detail at ground level.
In response, IG Masonry Support developed a bespoke design, creating a one-brick-high, one-brick-deep Brick on Soffit System (B.O.S.S.) with header bond brick detailing to form the outer perimeter at the corner of the façade. The B.O.S.S. units were securely bolted to IG’s Welded Masonry Support system, enabling the structure to safely support the brickwork façade.
To achieve the deeper soffit profile at ground-floor level, Brick Slip Panels were incorporated into the design. Each two-brick panel was carefully fixed back to the internal steel frame and fully pointed, concealing all structural steelwork and delivering seamless finish.
The result is a precise and elegant brick soffit feature that not only enhanced the architectural quality of the residence, but also sparked IG Masonry Support’s decision to expand into the North American market.
