278 8th Avenue

The 278 8th Avenue development in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood is a newly completed 14-story residential building, offering 190 rental apartments.

In New York City’s trendy Chelsea district, the architecturally impressive mixed-use building at 278 8th Avenue boasts 14 stories and a height of 175 feet.

To meet the project’s design requirements, a masonry support system had to be installed at each of the building’s floor levels. This was due to the façade’s exceptional aesthetic, with brickwork framing floor-to-ceiling windows throughout. However, areas of brickwork required recessing by 0.5’’, presenting the installing contractor with their most pressing challenge.

IG Masonry Support played a crucial role in realizing this vision, supplying our TITAN MAX stainless steel masonry support system, along with a supplementary amount of Welded Masonry Support.

The TITAN MAX system’s front-fit loading design and inherent adjustability were perfectly suited to address the brickwork’s recess, with custom-notched shelves facilitating a swift and economical installation process.
