IG Masonry Support Projects Take Top Prizes at 2015 Brick Awards

The 39th Annual Brick Awards took place on Wednesday 18th November in The Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London – and IG Masonry Support Projects were the big winners of the night.

With 14 categories open to architects, house builders, brick contractors, manufacturers and developers, three IG Masonry Support projects won Best Housing Development (1-5 Units), Best Urban Regeneration Project and the prestigious BDA Chairman’s Award.

Church Road Belfast

Church Road in Belfast (pictured left) by Hall McKnight Architects and Strong Construction Ltd. won Best Housing Development for 1-5 Units. Using the IG Masonry Support Brick Slip Soffit panels, Church Road created strikingly beautiful living space for a dramatic modern house.

Judges commented, “The design and realisation of this house was impressive. The brickwork elements were well proportioned and integrated to dramatic effect”.

Phase 1 of the Laurieston Project in Glasgow used IG Brick Slip Masonry Support for the rebuild of this tenement into high quality social housing. Elder & Cannon Architects and McTaggart Construction Ltd. Worked together to create this bold and strong character to this building – allowing them to take home the Best Urban Regeneration Award.

Eight Artillery Row in London was the big winner of the night, taking home the BDA Chairman’s Award. Make Architects and 8Build Contractors used IG Masonry Support’s Brick Slip Columns for the major refurbishment of a 1960’s concrete office block to create 21 flats with a meticulous new brick façade.

“This building exemplifies the kind of refurbishment project that we need if we are to regenerate our inner cities areas in a sustainable way and create the kind of environments which people value and where they want to live”.

The Brick Awards is the longest, most well established design awards in the UK, with all successful projects and winners published in a wide variety of architectural press, including RIBA Journal and Architecture Today.
